Play & Lecture Program
(formerly "the Toddler Program")

Our PLAY & LECTURE PROGRAM combines a well-managed playgroup for children with a weekly lecture time for parents. This program offers 40 minutes of open play and art projects followed by 45 minutes of parenting lecture while children have snack and activities with the preschool teachers. This program starts Tuesday Sept. 11th and is available throughout the school year. Classes are available on Tues. or Wed. from 9:15-10:45am or 11:00-12:30pm.

Classtimes and ages (in Sept.) are

Tues. 9:15-10:45am 23-30 months

Tues. 11:00-12:30pm 28-36 months +

Wed. 9:15-10:45am 16-24 months

Wed. 11:00-12:30pm 26-34 months

To promote consistency and build relationships, the course is available for the school-year term.  We offer 37 sessions with a week off for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks off for the winter holidays and a week off for spring break.

 

Play Program

Developmentally appropriate playgroups are provided in a well-equipped preschool classroom. Children and parents  have an opportunity to participate in dramatic play, blocks, puppetry, science, manipulatives, art activities, sand or water play, and a reading corner on a regular basis. Classroom exploration is child-oriented and guided by experienced preschool staff.

 

Parenting Course Content

Parents participate in a comprehensive parenting course including: child development, temperament,attachment, discipline, aggression, sleep issues, feeding, language development, literacy, school readiness, school choice, sibling and peer relations, and other related issues.

 

Parenting Course Structure

Session structure is in the form of lecture, book discussions, open discussion, question and answer, and written response. Homework in the form of child observation, written records of parent-child interactions, brief readings, and practice of specific parenting behaviors is assigned occasionally.

 

 
 

Rates

The cost of the Play & Lecture program is $34 per 90-minute session.  Enrolled families pay $129.20 monthly. The first payment is due at the time of enrollment. The next 9 installments are due by the 20th of each month (Sept-May). A 10% discount will be given for those who pay in full at the time of enrollment.


Additionally, we offer a 7-week summer course. The cost of the  summer session is based on class attendance and is due at the first class.
