Social Skills Groups

Providing your child with both a helpful boost - and a leg up. Enrolling your child in a Social Skills Group will help nurture and develop their abilities to interact more harmoniously with their friends, teachers, and siblings, in your home, in school and other social situations. The compelling and important skills learned in this class will help your child succeed and will enable them to feel more confident and less frustrated.

Created by Dr. Rene, the Social Skills Group is designed to improve your child’s ability to:

  • Identify, manage and communicate emotions in healthy and respectful manner

  • Improve listening skills

  • Foster better impulse control and appropriate manners

  • Learn to share and take turns

  • Develop play skills

  • Improve friendships

  • Understand causes and consequences of emotions

  • Negotiate and manage conflict

  • Make decisions and follow directions

  • Understand and deal with anger and aggression

  • Participate in competition by being a good sport, learning to win and lose

The classes are fun and interactive. Children will have weekly homework activity to complete with parents to reinforce what they learn in class. Activities include movement games, art activities, puppet shows and story time to teach the weekly topic.

Age Requirement – your child must be at least three years old, and no older than nine years old, when beginning the Social Skills Group. Classes are held for 3- to 4-year-olds, 5- to 6-year-olds, and 7- 9-year-olds.  The curriculum is modified to be age appropriate.

Space is limited to 12 children per class with two psychologist instructors and one or two preschool teachers.
